The new year is an excellent time to let go of
things that no longer serve you. It’s a great time to get organized and get rid of clutter and anything else that’s no longer of use or that’s holding you back. In order to bring in the new, we must create a space for it. It’s also hard to create new habits when reminders of your old ones are all around you.
Personally,
I use the first few weeks of January to get myself organized and ready for changes. This makes me feel motivated to move forward.
I love this quote by C. JoyBell C.:
“Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don't have something better.”
Do you realize that by holding on to your overeating, you're not creating the space for something new and better to appear in your
life?
Over the years, I’ve had many clients tell me, “I don’t know what I’d do with my time if I wasn’t struggling with a food and weight issue. It’s what I’ve spent most of my adult life doing.”
When your identity becomes “a person who struggles with a food and weight issue,” it can be very hard to let go of it because when you do, it can threaten your sense of self. It also creates a big empty vacuum in your life and nature and humans abhor a vacuum. We instantly want to fill it with something.
