Here are some tips to manage your energy.
1. Learn how to breathe and ground yourself. Deep breathing can help calm and soothe your nervous system. Grounding is a practice that helps center you and refocus your energy in the present. The following grounding exercise can also help you to release pent up negative
energy.
Sit comfortably on the floor, with your legs crossed or out in front of you. As you breathe in, imagine white or gold light coming from above your head and into the top of your head and moving downwards,
filling your entire body.
Now imagine that your tailbone extends past your body and goes deep into the Earth. I like to imagine this as an exhaust pipe. As you breath out, imagine the negative energy moving down the
tailbone or exhaust pipe and releasing the negative, stale energy deep down into the Earth. You can imagine this energy as dark like smoke. Then repeat, filling yourself with golden light from the top of
your head with each in breath, and releasing the dark energy with each outbreath.
2. When you're feeling stressed, anxious, or upset, put your hand over your heart and repeat. "All is well, everything will work out. You're safe right now." Or, "This too shall pass." Or anything else that you find soothing and comforting.
3. Hug yourself and rock yourself back and forth. Repeat the following statements above or just "Your safe now," or "You'll be ok."
4. When you're in social situations or around people who are toxic to you, imagine that you are encased in a shield of white light that surrounds your aura (about an arms length away from your body all the way around, above and below) as a way to own your personal space.
When people direct negative energy towards you, imagine that this energy bounces off the white light and goes back to the other person.
When you come home from a social situation, take a shower or do the grounding meditation.
5. Turn on meditation music and chant mantras and/or affirmations. My favorite calming
mantra is Govinda Govinda Hari Hari. It's especially calming and soothing when I hug myself and chant it. You can listen to it here.
