Fear of Success or Fear of Failure? What Scares You Most?

Hello ,
I’m convinced one of the reasons women haven’t made more headway in the world is that they’re too busy obsessing on things such as appearance, and weight. It’s hard to change the world if you’re too busy counting the dimples on your thighs.
So many women fail to live up to their potential because of
low self-esteem and body issues. I see it all the time. Women hold themselves back because they feel they need to look or be a certain way to be worthy of success or love. It’s heartbreaking. In this way, they collude in their own oppression.
As a gender, if we collectively took all that life energy and put it out into the world as a force for good, we would be unstoppable.
I find a
lot of women are far more comfortable with failure than they are with success. They’re comfortable with playing small. Playing big is way too scary and out of their comfort zone.
Many women suffer from both fear of failure and fear of success. Underneath this is a fear of life. This is paralyzing and why so many women remain stuck. It’s often behind the obsession with food and weight. As long as you’re focused on that, you don’t have to
confront your real fears and move forward with your life.
So how about you? Do you have more of a fear of failure or fear of success or both?
What do you think will happen if you fail or succeed?
Do you realize that neither failure nor success is final?
We are all works in progress and we
will continue to experience both successes and failures in our lives. Neither one of these events has anything to do with our worth. They don’t define us unless we allow them to. They are simply experiences. And as such, they are events that guide our actions and provide lessons along the journey.
Here is a fundamental truth: no one wins or loses all the time, so get comfortable with both. When you succeed at weight loss or anything else
for that matter, don’t let your ego eat it up and pretend that you’re now superior and life will be grand from here on out.
I’ve seen so many clients get overconfident; they lose some weight and think they’ve got it all figured out now and they can just coast on Easy Street. When I see this happen, I just wait for the other shoe to drop…and believe me it does. Then they’re eating a big piece of humble pie… or should I say, “wearing
it.”
I also see many women take failure way too personally. They failed so now they are a failure. End of story. End of trying.
Try to practice taking both success and failure in stride. To be a winner, you need to know how to fail. All success is built from trial and error. If you can’t handle the error part, you don’t get to experience the winning.
At the end of the journey, you will look back and see that winning and losing wasn’t important anyway. It’s really all about how well you played the game.
Did you love? Did you have fun? Did you learn? Did you contribute? Did you experience life fully?
These are the questions that matter. Notice “How big was your waist, butt, or thighs?” isn’t included in
the above questions.
I would like to add one more question though:
How much time did you waste obsessing over food and weight and other things that ultimately didn’t matter?
What would you be doing in this one glorious life of yours if you weren’t WAISTING your time away on food and weight issues?
Are you ready to move beyond food and weight obsession and start rocking your world from the inside out?
